The range continues to reflect quality UK seasonal produce from individual farms. Welsh Organic Carrots
For welsh carrot grower Patrick Holden (also know for his work as Director of the Soil Association) this autumn has seen a huge rise in the sales of his Bwlchwernen branded Welsh Organic Carrots in Sainsbury's.
From the launch in January this year, Patrick's carrots sold only in Welsh Sainsbury's branches, turning over around 2000 bags/week. However the new season has seen Sainsbury's pilot the line across stores in England as well as some in Scotland. The resulting sales have lifted turnover to just over 5,000 bags/week, as customers latch on to the brand and understand the farm story printed on the reverse of each pack.
On each pack, Patrick explains how tricky it is to grow carrots on hill farms in West Wales, why you get a few miss-shapen carrots in every bag, and why they taste so great!
